ALEXANDRIA, IN-Esther Charlean Humphries age 93 of Clovis, NM passed away Thursday July 21, 2016 at Farwell Care & Rehabilitation Center in Farwell, TX
Esther was born March 28, 1923 in Tipton, Indiana to Oscar Hoover and Bertha Johnson Hoover. She married John Clifford “Cliff” Humphries December 24, 1942 in Tipton, IN. Esther was a member of First Baptist Church in Texico, NM and formerly First Baptist Church in Alexandria, Indiana, where she played the piano for services. She loved to play and teach the piano. Esther loved watching her grandchildren play sports, attending Bible Studies, knitting, and crocheting.
Survivors include: daughter; V.K. (Mark) Bussen of Clovis, NM, two sisters; LaVien Lutterall of Indiana and Betty Jo Jarvis of Oregon, eight grandchildren; Jay C. Humphries Jr., Michael Humphries, LaTonya Ranae (Josh) Wilson, Kaylie (Josh) Ray, Joshua, Kenan, Kyra and Luke Bussen, 10 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Cliff (1964), 8 siblings; Carmel Hoover, Lloyd Carmichael, Gene Hoover, Dorothy Miller, Evalyn Van Briggle, Gretchen Fakes, Althea Hoover, and Sara Weese; grandson, John Clifford Humphries Jr; daughter; LaTonya Jean Wilson (2012); two sons, Jay Clifton Humphries, Sr (1988) and Jerry Eugene Humphries (1973).
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will take place at 6pm on Monday, August 1, 2016 in the Alexandria First Baptist Church, 2107 South Park Avenue. Former pastor Rev. Clifton Richardson will officiate. Family and friends are invited to call at the church after 4pm on Monday prior to the services.
